Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 27, 2026
SafeRide applies this policy to protect personal information, handle passenger reports responsibly, and keep platform safety records private, fair, and accountable.
1. Purpose
SafeRide processes information to support public transport verification, passenger reporting, operator accountability, safety analytics, audit trails, and lawful platform administration.
2. Information We Collect
- Passenger reports, categories, severity, descriptions, timestamps, and public reference numbers.
- Optional reporter contact details when a passenger chooses contactable follow-up.
- Vehicle, route, driver, operator, QR code, scan, rating, and assignment records.
- Limited technical metadata such as hashed IP address, hashed user-agent, scan timestamps, and referrer host where available.
- Account details for administrators, operators, and regulators.
3. Lawful Processing Position
SafeRide relies on consent where passengers choose to provide optional contact details, and on lawful safety, accountability, compliance, legal-rights, and public-interest purposes where the platform processes reports, verification records, audit logs, and risk analytics.
4. Sensitive and Private Data
Reporter contact details, internal notes, evidence, and staff assignments are private by default. They are not displayed on public report tracking pages. Driver and operator data shown to passengers is limited to passenger-safe verification information.
5. Unregistered Vehicle Reports
Reports about vehicles that are not registered on SafeRide are stored as unverified intelligence. They are not treated as verified operator performance, and they are not converted into public ratings unless SafeRide later verifies and links the vehicle or operator through an appropriate review process.
6. Sharing
SafeRide may share limited information with authorized administrators, scoped operator users, regulators, law enforcement, insurers, or advisers where necessary for safety review, legal compliance, dispute handling, or platform operations. Public pages show only privacy-safe information.
7. Retention
Reports, audit records, and verification records may be retained for accountability, legal, compliance, and safety analytics purposes. Contact details should be retained only as long as needed for follow-up, dispute handling, or lawful operational needs.
8. Security
SafeRide uses role-based access, audit logs, hashed technical metadata where practical, and scoped dashboards. No online system is risk-free, and users must not submit unnecessary sensitive personal information in free-text descriptions.
9. Your Rights
Data subjects may request access, correction, deletion where legally appropriate, restriction, or information about processing. Some records may need to be retained where required for legal claims, safety accountability, fraud prevention, or audit integrity.
10. Contact
For privacy requests, contact the SafeRide administrator or the official contact channel published by the platform operator.
11. Zimbabwe Legal Context
This policy is designed around Zimbabwe data protection expectations, including fair and lawful processing, purpose limitation, proportionality, security safeguards, and data subject rights. If a conflict exists between this policy and applicable Zimbabwean law, the law controls.
